Every weapon tagged and Every movement logged with RFID Weapon Tracking System
IoTWeaponTracker reads UHF RFID tags the instant a weapon, magazine or piece of gear crosses an armory threshold, and ties that read to a verified officer, a certification check and an audit record, automatically.
Core Capabilities of RFID supported Weapon Tracker
RFID tag scanning
Discretely placed RFID tags read by the same fixed antennas, USB scanners and mobile handhelds.
Authenticate Personnel
Scanning ID Card chip or barcode and/or entering ID # from the card or badge, Fingerprint scan, PIN # entry – Validated against photo and demographics before any weapon is released.
Automatic certification & ARM status
Automatic lookup of officer or soldier’s ARM / DO NOT ARM status, with IoTWeaponTracker auto-alerts if an officer has been designated ‘DO NOT ARM’ through screen color-coding in
red color and alert messages
Parent Child accessories linkage
IoTWeaponTracker supports ‘parent-child’ relationships, and specifically long-arm and side arm accessories including scopes, sights, lights and similar attachments.
Full audit trail
Every issue, return, inspection, test-fire and maintenance event is time-stamped and matched to video, where available.
Rapid inventory & audit
Every issue, return, inspection, test-fire and maintenance event is time-stamped and matched to video, where available.
ISSUE RETURN EVENT
What happens at the window
The sequence is fixed and enforced by software, so no issue can bypass a certification or ARM-status check.
01
Officer authentication
ID card scan, fingerprint, or PIN entry pulls the officer’s record. The system shows assigned weapons, required magazines and gear, certification status, and ARM / Do Not Arm designation all resolve automatically.
02
Items are scanned or passively detected
ID card scan, fingerprint, or PIN entry pulls the officer’s record. The system shows assigned weapons, required magazines and gear, certification status, and ARM / Do Not Arm designation all resolve automatically.
03
Custody is transferred
Serial numbers, photos and item data display on a signature pad or external monitor. The officer confirms and signs – capturing the record independently of what the armorer entered.
04
Return is verified item-by-item
On check-in, every issued item displays as a photo checklist. Ammo counts are reconciled against magazines and belts before the transaction closes.
Passive doorway vs. Wall-Track
RFID read accuracy is bounded by physics, not software.
Here’s the honest trade-off between the two most common configurations.
HANDS FREE
Passive Doorway
Officers walk through – No scanning required. Best suited to doorways set back from dense storage, where nearby tagged items in racks won’t trigger false reads.
- Automatic detection, no officer action needed at the door
- Typical field accuracy around 97% with proper antenna placement and tuning
- Can pair with a monitor showing detected items for a manual double-check
- Best kept clear of dense in-storage tag clusters within ~5m
HIGH ACCURACY
Wall-Track
Officers scan an RFID tag at check-out and check-in. Slightly more deliberate, but the read is unambiguous every time.
- Each transaction is a direct, confirmed scan – No ambiguity
- Minimal ongoing tuning or support once installed
- Works identically regardless of storage layout or doorway geometry
- Recommended where 100% read certainty matters more than throughput
Weapon and Armory security that goes beyond the issue return window
- Integrates with door access control systems to capture data relative to each time a person enters or exits an armory, including person, doorway, time and date;
- Unitizes motion sensors, RFID antennas and doorway/command center alarm-flashing light devices that are triggered if there is an attempt to remove a weapon from an armory or warehouse in an unauthorized manner;
- Integrates with surveillance cameras that are motion-triggered and that capture video and audio of all persons that enter or exit an armory or warehouse. IoTWeaponTracker Issue and Return and Security events are all linked to video footage based on matching time/date stamps;
- Integrates with facility / base / camp vehicle and personnel gates via computers and mobile scanners to enable final check and validation of the personnel entering or leaving facilities and the weapons, gear and ammo in their possession.
RFID based smart lockers and weapon racks
- IoTWeaponTracker Smart Lockers provide technology-based access control, automated tracking of removals and returns with RFID sensors within each locker and the ability to weigh weapons to ensure magazine has been removed, and to weigh magazines to make sure there are no missing rounds.
- Smart Lockers are manufactured of hardened steel and rugged locking systems to make it difficult or impossible for ‘bad actors’ to access or steal weapons.
- Smart Racks require that officer scans fingerprint or otherwise enters credentials to unlock a weapon clamp, and the butt holder includes RFID
Database and software integration
- IoTWeaponTracker provides a robust API that enables the software and system to seamlessly integrate with an organization’s existing and future software and database applications.
- IoTWeaponTracker application programming interface (API), enables the JCF to import HR and Financials (Assets) data from existing core computer systems of the force, and ensuring that all databases remain in-sync, with the same data, from system implementation and throughout the future.
- IoTWeaponTracker fully supports RESTful Web Services for network and cloud-based database and software integration.
